MTV and Ice Cube are bringing back ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’

The surreal stop-motion show originally ran from 1998-2002, before a short revival in 2006-07
Celebrity Deathmatch is being rebooted by MTV and Ice Cube.
The stop-motion series – which sent up numerous celebrities by depicting them as ultra-violent wrestlers – originally ran from 1998 to 2002 for 75 episodes (excluding the two pilots). A brief revival of the show began in 2006, but it came to an end less than a year later after just 16 episodes.
“Deathmatch was the meme before memes,” MTV, VH1, and CMT president Chris McCarthy said in a statement about the revival of the show. “[It] remains a hot topic on social media and will be a smart, funny way to tackle the over-the-top rhetoric of today’s pop culture where it belongs – in the wrestling ring.”Latest News 'Celebrity Deathmatch' Credit: Alamy MTV and Ice Cube are bringing back ‘Celebrity Deathmatch’ Morrissey Credit: Rex Morrissey announces new covers album ‘California Son’ Lana Del Rey Credit: Rex Watch Lana Del Rey perform brand new songs with Jack Antonoff Sharethrough (Mobile)
Ice Cube, meanwhile, will release his long-awaited album ‘Everythang’s Corrupt’ tomorrow (December 7) – its lead single, ‘Arrest The President’, was released last month.
